Lungers At Work And Play

From time to time our members will provide photographs of their activities for all to share. In most cases they are here just for your enjoyment and to get to know one of our members a little better. If you are interested in sharing with us, send the photographs to Bill Powell in digital form or drop him a line and he will give you his address for snail mail.

Marian Cole & Sisters

  Enclosed is a picture (I don't like my picture taken) of the last of the Cole Family. We had gotten together about six years ago as our older sister has died of lung cancer. Looking at picture, on the left is Frances from Dallas, Texas. On the right is my twin Marie from Charlotte, North Carolina. NOW, get ready - in the middle is me, Marian. This was taken about one year before I was dx with COPD/E.

I am from Nashville, North Carolina. We all started out in Richmond, Virginia and here is where we ended up after quite a few years passed. As of this date, with no smoking for four (4) years and rambling through Internet, finding papapoo and "Breathing The Easy Way" from the beginning, guess we better add about 32 pounds, a few wrinkles and sitting not so straight and you have me today. Couldn't find a camera large enough to take a picture and rather you use your imagination. Remember Group, The Queen!!!   E-mail address is [email protected].

Since so many in my Tuesday night chat have sent their pictures in, I'm sending one too so maybe it might be included it in the next batch of members.  I think it's really nice to have a picture in your mind of who you're talking to.

I know I'm mostly a lurker on the list because I don't have a lot to contribute, but I very much enjoy participating in the chats and have come to really care about my fellow chatters.

{Note: Mary recently volunteered to assist in the administration of the List and will be handling the administration of the Emergency Contact Lists (Buddy Groups) and other like projects.}

As far as my personal side, I'm still working as a secretary, married 20 years to a great guy named Warren, love animals (especially my little dog Muppet), music, playing and working on the computer, and just relaxing. You are welcome to e-mail me at [email protected].

Therapeutic Riding

I was a card carrying member of the "American Association Of Therapeutic Riding Programs" for years and one of the titles I was very proud of....a slow walk, a slow trot or jog will shake up the lung goop nicely.  The group is NARHA - North American Riding for the Handicapped Association.  In the right hand photo (I'm on the grey horse), you can see we were in helmets and each had a 'side walker', and the horses were fitted with special reining equipment - an NARHA requirement.   The center photo shows how a conservor or Liquid 02 tank can be fitted snugly between the shoulders in a backpack and be very secure, balanced and comfortable.  I rode regularly before the surgery and will begin again in 2 months. This is my enduring love -- and my belief in the bond between the horse and the human. Contact me at [email protected]
