Debby Thompson:I am a native Californian, a wife, a mother and a grandmother. I was diagnosed with asthma in 1986 and was very shocked when in 1993 they changed the diagnoses to severe Emphysema with an asthmatic component. I continued to work for another year and a half but my profession -- Records Management and Emphysema are not a suitable combination so I took medical retirement in October 1994. I was very active and the thought of having to slowly give up almost everything I enjoyed was not acceptable so I started searching for information, equipment and medicine that would allow me to remain as active as possible. When I began my search not much was available but over the past few years, thanks to the Internet, it has exploded with information. It was while surfing that I ran across the COPD site and sent in my request to join. Although I have been a member for a short time when the call for volunteers was made I jumped at the opportunity. This is my small way of saying thanks for all the help, encouragement and friendships I have been blessed with. Debby is an Administrative Assistant for the List.
